Biography

As a team member of the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience, Ms. Decker serves both Milestones Resilience Care and the Veterans Health and Trauma Clinic by providing direct clinical and resilience care navigation services to individuals impacted by acute and chronic stressors. Since joining the University in 2009, Ms. Decker has held a variety of research and clinical leadership positions, including Interim Clinic Director, Clinical Supervisor, Graduate Student Training Coordinator, and Senior Professional Research Assistant. Ms. Decker brings 25 years of experience promoting resilience within individuals, families and communities utilizing research-informed and evidence-based practices (e.g., EMDR, CPT, & DBT) to transform the negative impact of exposure to traumatic stressors such as interpersonal violence, sexual assault, child abuse, natural disasters,  prolonged grief, and combat/military trauma. Ms. Decker holds a License as a Professional Counselor (LPC) having graduated from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and periodically teaches both undergraduate and graduate psychology courses at UCCS. She strives to maintain a balance between her work and home life and enjoys spending time with her family hiking and biking in the Colorado Rockies.
