Healing

Healing

The Healing division of the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience provides an integrated healing experience for individuals wishing to recover from the mental health impact of trauma, stress, or burnout. The division is comprised of two clinics, specializing in the needs of two separate populations.

Veterans Health and Trauma Clinic

The Veterans Health and Trauma Clinic (VHTC) was opened in 2014 to address the mental health needs of Veterans, active military members, first responders, and their families in the Pikes Peak region. In general, these groups face disproportionate exposure to traumatic experiences and situations when compared with their civilian counterparts. The lack of trauma-specific mental healthcare options in and around Colorado Springs, a community with a large population of Veterans and active military members, necessitated the creation of this specialized clinic. VHTC helps individuals recover from psychological challenges associated with military service, natural disaster, domestic violence, auto accidents, sexual assault, and a wide range of other mental health challenges. Milestones Resilience Care

Milestones Resilience Care (Milestones) was designed as a new model of mental healthcare with the specific goal of empowering clients to heal from trauma, stress, or burnout by focusing on the development of inner strength, purpose/meaning, connectedness, and physical well-being. This model was created with the findings from years of scientific research on trauma and resilience. Rather than pathologizing individuals and treating them as “sick,” Milestones works to empower individuals to overcome through a resilience-based model of adaptation. In essence, the model focuses on what is possible, rather than what is broken and empowers individuals to thrive in their recovery by concentrating on mind, body, and spirit. Unlike VHTC who primarily serves Veterans, active military members, first responders, and their families, Milestones is open to all. For more information about Milestones Resilience Care, click the link below.
